Beloved Children’s Book Series Introduces Young Readers to a World of Friendship, Courage, and Belonging

The MerryFairy Series by Jonelle McCaffrey Delivers Warmth, Wisdom, and Timeless Life Lessons for Children Ages 3 to 7

A heartwarming new children’s book series is capturing the hearts of young readers and their families with stories that are as meaningful as they are magical. Author Jonelle McCaffrey has released three picture books in her MerryFairy series, each one building on a world where a gentle fairy, a spirited young owl, and a kind-hearted horse show children what it looks like to grow, connect, and care for one another.

The series opens with Merry Fairy, Baby Hootie, and Daisy Become Friends, a debut picture book that introduces three unforgettable characters whose accidental mid-flight collision on a moonless night sets everything in motion. Merry Fairy longs to belong. Baby Hootie is eager to prove himself. And Daisy, a nurturing pasture horse with quiet wisdom, catches them both and gently guides two stubborn, hurting souls toward understanding each other. The result is a story about empathy, self-worth, and the kind of friendship that changes you, told without ever feeling like a lesson.

The second title, Merry Fairy Goes Home, follows Merry Fairy back to her beloved tree, where she finds Fairy Fina, a frightened little fairy swept far from her best friend by a thunderstorm. With the help of the forest community, from the chattering Squirrelly Squirrels to the soaring red birds and the ever-present Daisy, Merry Fairy gently encourages Fina from tearful anxiety to joyful confidence. It is a story about community, courage, and the reassuring truth that facing fears is always easier when you do not have to face them alone.

The third installment, Baby Hootie Goes Home, brings the young owl full circle as he returns to his family wiser, humbler, and ready to contribute. When Hootie discovers that the crops his family is protecting belong to Daisy’s farm, the series ties together in a quietly powerful moment that rewards readers who have followed along from the beginning. Themes of gratitude, responsibility, and growing up with grace run throughout, delivered with McCaffrey’s signature light touch.
